June 2008

Last night, Michael Cady and the guys at The Gutsy Geeks Radio show in Phoenix interviewed me for the next airing of their show. The interview was mostly about the Arizona Team, and our recently becoming an “Approved LoCo Team.” The show will air Sunday, July 6th, at 4:00 PM MST. That’s -7 UTC. This show is a very “pro” Ubuntu talk show, and I hope to be asked back soon. It will be available as a downloadable ogg or mp3 file at the link below a day or two after the show airs.

The Arizona Team got it’s first bulk shipment of CDs today from shipit. COOL! I sent the request on June 5th, received shipping confirmation on June 18th, and received the CDs June 23rd. It included a good mix of the various Ubuntu versions, and to my surprise, 50 of the KDE4 remix CDs. I’ve always been a GNOME kind of guy, but I did boot one of the KDE 4 CDs, and I was impressed. Anyway, nice job shipit!!

The Arizona LoCo team went before the new LoCo Council today and secured it’s official “Approved LoCo Team” status. A big hand to the team for all the hard work that has gone into making this a reality. We aren’t planning to sit on our heals though now that we are recognized. We already are in the planning stages of release parties and installfests for Intrepid Ibex 8.10, and an Open Source Conference to be co-hosted by our team and the LUGs in Arizona. w00t!!
